At this point in our digital era to date, robotics and robots have been on a skyrocketing advancement. Man has certainly gone a long way, from carving wooden clubs to designing robotic humanoids. Our accomplishments show that we have established our superiority in this ecosystem by evolving from the caveman’s stone age to the progressive digital era. But now, we seem to kick our evolution a notch, anticipating ushering in a new age—the robotic era.

A robot would be generally described as a machine with computer-installed programming, which enables it to perform a function or group of functions automatically. It isn’t manually controlled by machine mechanics only; it receives information that tells its machine parts what to do to act. Robots could range from machines programmed to perform simple actions to those designed and installed with programs meant for more complex actions. It is also important to note that a robot design could emulate any form and shape, not just biological embodiments. The belief associated with robots only looking like humans or animals is a widespread myth. Now this ferries us to our next question,

Conversely, robotics can be defined as the study of robot development and research. This study laid the foundation for most of our software-incorporated machines. Robotics is a vast study and can be applied in various areas of human development and aid in the designs of robotic machines with the intent of performing tasks quite difficult for hundreds of humans to perform effectively.

We all know that human labor is designed so that rest would benefit us to remain alive. But this case does not apply to robots. A robot could be assigned an agricultural task or remotely controlled by a human to perform such a task, and it would keep on doing it, not jot diligently but perfectly, with no error involved. The heavy lifting, which our biological design hinders, won’t be applied to them too.
It is not far from the truth to quickly come to terms with the fact that lots of work hours would be saved and productivity exponentially increased. The only concern of robotics in this sector is that it reduces the need for human labor and, therefore, would plunge most people into unemployment. But research shows that robotics would save the billions involved in human labor employment because they don’t need to be paid or to take shifts that would involve the presence of more individuals. One won’t even consider expenses to be made in case of human error. You make a down payment, and the machine is yours forever.

The existence of drones, ranging from super-fast reconnaissance jets to remote-controlled mini spy drones, has shown the impact of robotics in the military sectors. Robotic machines also play the role of carrying heavy loads for the military during combat. This reduces the stress and pressure soldiers usually undergo in lifting their heavy gear during battles. And in the future, robots designed to take orders from soldiers, analyze battlefield scenarios, and reply to an attack will be at the forefront and heat of battles. This would help reduce the death rate of soldiers who put their lives on the line for God and their country.
The futuristic creation of firearms using 3D printing is ongoing speculation too. You would download the software into the machine and, voila! The machine replicates a functional gun for you. Don’t get too excited; this area isn’t for us civilians; the military should be dancing to this. With a power source, ammo could be printed anywhere on a battlefield; catchy, right?
Every era must come, become obsolete, and usher in a new era. We seem to be coming towards the end of a great one and the birth of a more magnificent one. The robotic age is, right now, undoubtedly our future, with applications that could take a man to the forefront of the universe and evolution as we know it. We have to live it and love it. This is another big screen frenzy. A robot must not necessarily look human and portray human attributes like c3po in Star Wars. A robot could be any machine imbibed with software that enables it to perform a particular task, either autonomously or semi-autonomously. It could range from robotic arms assembling cars to an artificial lung. The humanoid concept is just a fraction of this field.
